Four years after stepping down as bassist of AnnenMayKantereit, Malte Huck returns with the debut album of his project BEACHPEOPLE. "has-been" is a personal archive of his life's stations so far and the farewells tied to them: from the band that took him to the country's biggest stages; from his friend Julian, also known as Lord Folter, who passed away in 2023 and to whom 7 seconds of silence are dedicated; from old versions of himself and old dependencies.

Produced by Simon Freidhöfer, the album was made from late 2023 onwards at Lake Wolfgang. The first single, "LEAVING THE BAND", puts into his own words what had until then been nothing more than industry gossip: "I STOPPED TO COUNT THE NUMBERS AND STARTED TO DREAM AGAIN." BEACHPEOPLE, Huck says, is an attempt to dream new dreams. That you have to let go of old ones to do so lies in the nature of things.
